National Indigenous Women’s Resource Center
A central voice raising awareness for MMIW+
Providing national leadership to end violence against American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian women by lifting up the collective voices of grassroots advocates and offering culturally grounded resources, technical assistance and training, and policy development to strengthen tribal sovereignty.
NIWRC provides guidance and resources to take action on behalf of missing & murdered Indigenous women and relatives. They also advocate for so much, and I can’t say enough good things about them.
Urban Indian Health Institute
The gold standard for collecting data on MMIW+
Decolonizing data, for Indigenous people, by Indigenous people.
If you know me, you know I love data. You know I love decolonizing. As a division of the Seattle Indian Health Board, the Urban Indian Health Institute works to collect the data often missing about MMIW+. Without data, it is difficult to obtain funding and awareness for the MMIW+ epidemic. UIHI and the Seattle Indian Health Board also run various projects (including COVID support) for Indigenous people in the Seattle area.
