Plants can re-root themselves, as I consider where to root myself. I paint cuttings found from the sidewalks about my San Francisco studio as they grow new roots, plants as gifts to and from friends, and a sprig from a juniper tree (Juniperus virginiana) travels from my field in Virginia to San Francisco--a sprig unable to generate new roots.
