JUNIPERUS VIRGINIANA

— Plants can re-root themselves, as I consider where to root myself. I paint abandoned cuttings found from the sidewalks around my San Francisco studio as they generate new roots, plants as gifts to and from friends, and a sprig from a juniper tree, Juniperus virginiana, travels from my field in Virginia to San Francisco — a sprig unable to generate new roots.
