Navajo on the go

NAVAJO ON THE GO

Paintings of home blend my roots in Virginia with my Navajo family. They recall family history: my own histories leaving home for education and employment, my mother doing the same, my másáni living through what the US Government would like to place into forgotten history. Reference imagery came from paintings and artwork in my family’s home and my own reflections onto them. Traditional Navajo artwork, contemporary painting, my own identity, and the present get mixed up; and I am left feeling a bit lost despite knowing exactly where I am and where I came from.
