Non compos mentis: Pocket asylums, cardboard, & having a voice
My review of Bedlam, “Non compos mentis,” now appears in The Coastal Post.
With the political climate the way it is, Bedlam: the asylum and beyond at the Wellcome Collection here in London felt important as I find myself grappling with whose voice is heard–hence the departure from the typical studio visit format. The exhibition is part of a medical collection, positioned for us to consider the history of asylums and the political implications around them.
